Non-specific goals for the year ahead

Life

Last year I never set any goals or made any resolutions and to be honest, I didn’t miss doing so. But this year I’m older and some might suggest wiser; therefore it’s time to get serious about these frivolous goals and resolutions we all seem to make come new years eve.

Education
Its time to get serious about learning. Having wasted a year flirting with straight business I really need to get into my Marketing course. I live for marketing so it’s about time I showed that in my studies.

Health
If I genuinely want to live forever I need to get over myself and stop believing I can get away with eating rubbish and not exercising.

I’m not too sure I fancy spending £75/month on gym membership (sure, I *could* use the one at work, but shh!) so I’m going to start running and maybe swim some more. Also, I feel like a Wii and Wii Fit are sound investments.

You’ve probably noticed my budget of sensible things like gym membership is very small compared to my budget for unnecessary electronics. Continuing in that spirit, to compliment my new healthy lifestyle, I think dropping $100 US on a ‘FitBit’ is too a wise investment. As soon as they are on sale, and once I befriend an American who’ll ship to me I’ll be recording my lifestyle with it. C’mon, statistics are cool.

Cooking
Closely linked to health, it is my intention to cook more. Right now – when in Edinburgh at least – I’m living off luxury ready meals that you just nuke in the microwave for a few minutes. While this keeps me alive, I can’t help but feel bad about the processed crap I’m eating. More cooking in 2009 me thinks!

Wealth
In short, to play out my carefully devised wealth management strategy. I won’t go into the details (my strategy, not yours!), but in short I hope to actually start saving a fairly reasonable amount each month.

Travel
Lots of plans right now. Hoping to see North America before the year is out. A few days in San Francisco and then up to Vancouver to see family and friends (hello Carol) up there.

Video
It has been ages since I last shot some video myself. I really like making silly little films. I plan to buy a new camera and get going with some films from Edinburgh soon. (Anyone remember this?)

Toys
And before I sign off, some toys I’m considering buying in the year 2009. I really fancy a MacMini, a new MacBook Pro, Apple Cinema Display of some sort, HD Home Cinema Projector, Bose In-Ear headphones to compliment my on-ear QuietComfort 3’s and a digital photo frame should keep me a happy bunny! Hey, a guy’s gotta dream, right?!

That’s all for now.

Ross!
