Spotlight turns to Notebooks: Pre-Show Predictions

With just 45 minutes to go, it is time for some pre-show predictions. Just for the record, I’ve not been following the rumors so these are more or less random and thus will probably be way off!
There as been a lot of speculation over the last few weeks regarding the new notebooks from Apple. I am to the opinion that these notebooks have been delayed and that Apple was really looking to ship these last quarter when they updated their earnings forecast to suggest reduced numbers for last quarter.
Delayed
So my first prediction has to be that Apple intended to ship the new notebooks last quarter but run into problems. As a result, the notebooks announced today will not be shipping untill closer to the holiday season.
New Pirce Point
A new notebook either from the MacBook or the MacBook Air family at the $799 mark. I’d like to say it would have an 11″ screen, 16GB Soilid State Disk and CD/DVD drive but I think that might be pushing it a little. Specification wise, nothing better than the current line of MacBooks. Apple’s take on the Netbook, not a netbook – more a MacBook – but better!
New Design
Both the MacBook and MacBook Pro will be moved over to a design similar to that of the Mac Book Air.
Blu Ray Compatibility
A Blu Ray drive will be an option on the MacBook and Standard on the MacBook Pro.
Two displays, one computer!
The ability to run two external displays off the one Notebook, perhaps even with the notebook screen running too adding up to a total of three displays. Now that would make me happy!
New Cinema Display
A new line of cinema displays with built in docking stations for the new notebooks. Perhaps even wireless integration.
Upgrade on MacBook Air
Steve will add a wireless 3G data modem to the MacBook Air and will ramp up the SSD.
That’s all for now, see you all in 30 minutes on the LiveBlog and on Twitter. If you’re stuck for things to do while you wait, have a look over out coverage from Apple’s last event. For all updates today, besure to check this archive.
