I don’t like it. I think the interface is basic and the coloring is childish. It feels like it lacks features. And to be perfectly honest, I’ve pretty happy with FireFox 3. But word around the internet tells me that Google Chrome coverage is good for page views. So here goes with a few screen-shots.

When I downloaded Chrome I almost clicked past this screen without noticing the default options. I really dislike browsers importing data from my other browsers so I had to change these settings.

As you can see above, you have the standard install options which you would have for any modern browser. I unchecked most of the defaults.
The browser looks a little like this the first time you run it. A neat feature is the address bar - you can search right from there.
When you download something in Chrome, it ends up on the ‘Downloads’ page. Really quite lovely if you ask me.
Google have kept the settings screen fairly simple - a refreshing change from some preference panels I’ve seen recently.
Even the full set of options is limited. I guess that’s the Google way.
Google Chrome tabs show up as separate processes in Task Manager. They say that’s a good thing but on a purely aesthetic level - it’s not working for me.
That wraps up my screen-shot tour of Google Chrome. Not for me, but maybe for you. Oh, and before I forget …the browser war is so on!

Well, like you said, the browser war does seem to be on. Thanks for the screenshots - I’m still waiting a bit before I try it out. Google products seem to improve as people’s reactions come in, so I’m going to wait a bit before I see whether it can replace my Firefox.
Nice, quick and simple review of the Google Chrome program including its installer. It sounds like it does have some nice features I may have to check out. I do not really know since I already use firefox and am perfectly happy with it.
Thanks for the screenshots! I’ve been hearing a bit about Google Chrome, but have yet to download. I’ll download it just to have it, but I am also a dedicated Firefox fan. How does it compare to Explorer?
A friend of mine is obsessed with Google Chrome right now. He knows I love FF, so he keeps trying to give me reasons why this is better….and keeps falling short. The screenshots are cool and maybe eventually Chrome will be worth trying out, but for now, I’m glad I haven’t yet….especially after seeing another FF fan who isn’t impressed.
The article is really a good article to describe the installation procedure for Google Chrome.
Its really a very comprehensive document on Google Chrome. Certainly a helpful one. I am going to follow it for sure.
